Homeschooling; How It Helps Preserve Family Values At Home

by Marco Jensen

There is a vast history behind homeschooling mainly as a result of many countries having had a history of home education. The US eventually passed laws requiring school attendance which had a measurable impact on how and where children were educated. But over the last several decades many influences and events made parents rethink public school education. The thought of a traditional education is often not as satisfying as it was in the past, many parents dislike a lot of aspects of this type of education. What happens to their children is one area many parents desire control over which is of course not a big surprise. As well as what their children are learning. See below for many of the benefits of schooling your children at home.

One of the metrics so many parents look at when they are considering a new school for their children is the ratio of teachers to students. The number of teachers to students seems to indicate many things as a prime example, individual attention is diminished with higher ratios. Public schools have become overcrowded, teachers simply don't have enough time to give good quality amounts of attention to every child. Many students would fare far better in academics if they could get more one on one attention. This situation is resolved with homeschooling. Individual attention amounts can be a large or as small as the parent and child choose. That alone can make all the difference in a child's success with learning any subject.

When a parent chooses to educate their child they are making the choice to take more time with abstract lessons which include character formation. You won't get that kind of time or focus on this critical area in a private or public school. For those attending public schools this situation can be compounded by little or no interaction with parents or a single parent. Life today is very fast paced. On top of addressing these issues, homeschooling parents address such issues with fitness, provide a sound education for their child and build that child's character along the way.

Children love going on field trips no matter what type of schools whether private or public. These outings don't happen often enough for most children. So just imagine taking advantage of field trips to help educate your child at home. Of course a lot depends on where you live. It's pretty likely that if you live near a large city there will be museums available for field trip visits. On the flip side, field trips can be taken just about anywhere and made into excellent learning outings in subjects like science, biology and nature just to name a few.

Parents and children can enjoy the exciting fun of homeschooling. Because you have room for creativity in your child's education this is true for most. There is no scientific reason reasoning for teaching everything in a classroom. When learning actually becomes fun, or even new and exciting, then the young mind becomes stimulated. Getting your child's mind stimulated this way can lead to a much greater interest in education and learning.
