Today, more people are now taking classes in English as a second language programs, whether they are new immigrants to a country where English is the main language spoken or they are students in a foreign country where English is not there native Language. Being able to speak English helps people find new opportunities to achieve their career goals, helps them assimilate in a native English speaking country, and helps them converse with native English speakers, read books, magazines, and watch television and movies that are in English. Immigrants to Canada must have English language skills. They acquire these skills by taking classes and taking a language proficiency test that is approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). This test is called the IELTS which is the International English Language Testing System. People take this test when they want to work or study in an English speaking country. Immigrants also take this test. If you want to teach English as a second language, you can acquire a <a href="http://www.ontesol.com">TESOL</a> Diploma which often is program that is about 300 hours. When you have this diploma, you can teach English as second language in Canada and in another country. As well, this is a recognized test by both TESL Ontario and TESL Canada.
For non native English speakers, they get certification as a competent English speaker by taking the IELTS test. All across the world the IELTS test is used to determine a person's English communication skills. IELTS measures the ability to communicate in English in the four language skills that includes reading, listening, writing, and speaking. There are over 6,000 education organizations and agencies that recognize IELTS scores as proof of English language competency. This certification is very important for the non native English speaker who plan to attend an English language university or college.
English language teachers help new immigrants learn the English language and these teachers can travel overseas to teach English in non native English speaking countries. English language teachers gain many personal rewards as they watch their students master the English language. Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate (TESL) program usually takes about 100 hours to complete. Many countries require a bachelor's degree however some countries do not require the degree. TEFL certifications or TESL certifications helps teachers get higher paying jobs and it provides them with more job opportunities. There are ESL schools and programs that offer four week TESL training programs to help a teacher get qualifies to take the TESL test.
A teacher who has experience teaching the English language abroad will experience fun of traveling, living, and teaching English in a foreign country. As well, he or she will learn new life skills and they will learn how to live and work and appreciate in a foreign environment. There are many benefits to working as a native English language teacher which makes it a terrific career choice
