OFSTED claims that faculties aren't trying hard enough.

by Jason Jones

OFSTED's yearly report claims that schools haven't been ambitious enough and are coasting together with just satisfactory teaching. Some faculties are not getting above an OFSTED 'satisfactory ' grade, inspection after inspection. The report means that when colleges are presumed 'inadequate ' they do battle to boost yet too many schools that receive the 'satisfactory ' grade appear to stagnate at that level.

As a parent you might be held responsible for wondering whether this means that schools are just not bothered what OFSTED say. If colleges aren't trying hard to get above 'satisfactory ', are they making an attempt to stretch our youngsters or are they delighted to just do the job and carry on? It also begs the question about whether staff and teachers simply have too much going on everyday so as to just keep the standard they are at, as they happen to be and are too overworked to be in a position to start raising standards.

Another worrying aspect of the report concerns major schools. It asserts that 40% of schools which have formerly been given an 'outstanding ' grade, have lost that grade in their latest OFSTED report. As GCSE and A level results are getting better year on year, how is it able to be that the quality of teaching in our faculties isn't improving? It simply makes little sense, unless schools are just teaching pupils to pass exams and not teaching to teach and stretch our kids.

Find the correct schools in the UK can be exceedingly difficult.

Good examination results look great in league tables, but they don't always offer our kids the education they need for university, or greatness in a job that they have set their heart on.

The annual report also talks about the variance in the standard of teaching between different faculties. Maria Jones-Fraser of College Acknowledgments announces, "We all know of good and bad schools in our area, and OFSTED should be helping schools to level the field and be encouraging schools to raise standards. It is really troubling that this doesn't seem to be happening. ".

College Acknowledgments produce the College Admissions guide to help folks find the best local school for their child and the way to prepare for a school appeal hearing.
