The following information is from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing Task Force, that investigated the pass and fail rate of nursing students that have taken the NCLEX. The scores for the state of Oklahoma were lower than most of the states in the Union, prompting the formation of a task force and investigation of possible reasons for the low scores. What all perspective nursing students can gain from this report is how crucial it is to sit for the boards as soon as possible after graduation and to take advantage of all the help available in preparing for the NCLEX. The nurses efforts in putting this wealth of knowledge together has been a monumental task and all nursing schools across the country are grateful for the information that they have been able to provide after many long hours of research.
Massage therapy schools that are nationally accredited are considered to provide the most complete, thorough, and respected massage therapy training. Accredited schools have been approved by state and/or national organizations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, an important factor in the kind of education you will receive.
Depending on the type of client you wish to attract, some massage styles may appeal to you more than others. You will be wise to consider which of the various forms of massage you would like to learn before enrolling in any massage therapy school. The different approaches to massage therapy are mainly the medical healing and rehabilitative properties of Western-style massage, compared to the Eastern styles that incorporate the mind, body, and spirit to facilitate the flow of energies and total body health.
There are several massage therapy schools in Oklahoma that focus exclusively on Western forms of healing massage, while others take the Eastern approach to massage therapy and emphasize total wellbeing. The Nursing Schools In Oklahoma is a common curriculum in massage therapy schools, and they may offer the best choice for a comprehensive massage education.
o Student characteristics identified by programs as leading to NCLEX failure include a high number of work hours, family commitments, English as a second language, and low admission points.
o In some cases, problems within the program, such as resignation of the program director, faculty turnover, inexperienced faculty, lack of knowledge regarding the NCLEX examination and/or test development, and increased use of adjunct faculty were noted as having an impact on the NCLEX pass rate.
According the a 2003 report from the Nursing Schools In Oklahoma, it was concluded that the negative factors effecting the graduates scores were the following employment hours and family responsibilities, English as a second language, delaying taking the exam five months or more and the limited knowledge by the nursing faculty not adequately preparing students with sufficient practice at answering questions requiring critical and analytical thinking skills. Toward the end of the students graduating semester, the nursing department will send candidate information to the State Board of Nursing. It is important that the student follow up to be sure that all information that is being sent is accurate and up to date. One omission can mean a set back of several weeks.
